The Holographic School of Social Medicine is a four month experimental care project located in a bar in Berlin, open on Thursdays.
Mission Statement:
Starting in March and running through the end of June, anyone engaged in care (-work, -giving, -receiving, professional and casual and everything in-between) is invited to visit the Holographic School of Social Medicine. At the school we discuss, learn, and practice forms of non-institutional care without any exchange of money. We are working to liberate each other from the belief that care is best received from professionals and that it belongs only within the nuclear family or other dying patriarchal institutions. What would a public place dedicated to care outside of professional, institutional medicine look like? In this school we will study and play with the many existing answers to this question.
This project is by people who practice The Hologram, an anti-capitalist/ abolitionist model of viral mutual aid and distributed care that anyone can do. The long term goal of both The Hologram practice and our School of Social
Medicine is to produce a world where all caregivers are cared for. We believe that the habits, practices and material shifts necessary for such a world will necessarily give birth to a new economy based on health and life. Because this world we want is so far (and so close) from the reality we live in, the Holographic School of Social Medicine establishes a space for caregivers to learn together some of the skills and stories necessary to mobilize.
