This is the 9th Hologram course, and the first course aimed towards “familiars,” or people who are already practicing. The Hologram is a peer-to-peer conversation protocol that distributes care differently. It doesn’t replace professional care but goes underneath it. Through forming and activating community ties, the Hologram aims to create a network of people who feel stable and healthy, who can survive and thrive during the current and upcoming crises. This course is free to attend.

Lucien Spect and Lark Lyra Lou Hill are facilitating this course, and Florence Freitag is administrating. We are Hologram familiars who have been facilitating MVHs, courses and workshops since 2021. Lucien and Lark co-created and began facilitating Masculiminal, a bimonthly open, experimental, online reading/discussion group and Hologram practice space, in 2024. The intention of Masculiminal is to explore, ease into and evolve our own masculinities, leaving behind patriarchal masculinity and working to heal its heavily policed boundaries. This course has grown out of Masculiminal and our varied experiences guiding Hologram sessions.

COURSE THEME

The theme of the course is consistency through conflict, and our approach is playful. We experience the Hologram as a tool that helps people build interpersonal skills, stay connected and dream outside of capitalism; we hope this course will promote and develop the Hologram as a tool to help communities persist through disagreement and discomfort (though not necessarily as a conflict resolution tool).

In this course we will follow the irresistible friction within both our multi-dudes and our individual Hologram practice. What are the personal and societal frictions that arise from our manifold masculinities and how can we meet them? How does our Hologram practice take place and space (or not) in our lives and why now?

Having seen the Hologram protocol take many practice shapes over the last 6 years, we are curious: how do our lives shape our practice and vice versa? How can friction, in our personal identities as well as in our relational practices, fuel and support us in times of massive change?

WHO IS THIS FOR

For familiars of the Hologram across the gender spectrum who wish to explore their masculinities and/or self-identify as masculine. We believe that all genders can coexist in all people. We understand you may disagree; wonderful! Please join us. If you are not familiar with the Hologram, you are still welcome, just reach out so we can catch you up.
